"Eternally" Minded |

I recall several years ago, going through phases of life where I had little compassion for others and was quick to find the negative in all areas. My criticism bothered me and I knew I wanted to change and leave this "old self" behind. Far too many times my focus was on the things and cares of this world. There was not much joy and I was ready for my mindset to change. I then began to daily ask Lord to fill me with His perfect love, and allow me to see life through His eyes and to therefore act accordingly. Romans 8:6 "For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace."This simple plea to the Lord, has stirred in me an eternal mindset that now alters every aspect of my day. As many of you know, it is extremely easy to get swallowed up by the many responsibilities throughout your day, and to lose sight of what our purpose is on this earth. I was reminded that I am "risen with Christ" and a new creature in Him, and did not want that promise to leave my mind. Colossians 3:1 "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. I began to see this "eternal mindset" and "outlook on life" take over and replace any negative perspective that I had previously had. It was amazing! My heart would go out to ALL people and my prayers accordingly! I knew that my time here on earth is short and I desired for every decision to be made with my eternity in mind. 2 Cor. 4:18 "While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal." Since then, my days have transformed as I try to view every decision through my Savior's eyes and how it will affect my eternity. My witnessing, and heart for the lost, is much Thank you Lord! I desire to "lay up treasures in Heaven" and impact the lives of my friends and my family. Two verses would I like to share as I close. I John 2:15-17 instructs us to "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him." Let us not forget that our time here is short as we live to serve Him and bring His love to others. 1 Peter 4:7 "But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer." |
